Johnny claims the #1 spot in The Fandango Hot List
posted December 24, 2008 under votingsJohnny is on the first place in The Fandango Hot List: The Top 10 Sexiest Men in 2009 Movies, according to women and on the second, according to men. Of course, according to j-d.org,he is the eternal number one!
1. Johnny Depp: Public Enemies
Let's face it: women love Johnny. Depp previously led Fandango's 2007 Hot List for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and as long as he has a new movie coming out, he'll be a hard man to beat. After a string of colorful roles where Depp mastered a variety of English accents, he finally gets to play a Midwesterner, legendary criminal John Dillinger, in the summer gangster epic Public Enemies. Depp fans are also curious to see how his brief performance will factor into Heath Ledger's last movie, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, currently seeking an American distributor for a 2009 release. Depp-mania continues to rule the Internet, with recent announcements that he'll star in a fourth Pirates movie, a Lone Ranger remake, and as the Mad Hatter, a role that he was born to play in Tim Burton's live-action Alice in Wonderland, due in 2010. Now the only question that remains is this: when will Johnny get his long-overdue Oscar?

Alan Rickman Talks ‘Alice In Wonderland’
posted December 21, 2008 under moviesDuring a recent interview, Alan Rickman has let slip some more details about Tim Burton’s upcoming film Alice In Wonderland. Rickman will play the Caterpillar, starring alongside Burton regulars Johnny Depp and Helene Bonham Carter as well as the likes of Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen and Crispin Glover.
Here’s what he had to say:
“I’m a voice, but I have been filmed because it’s my face who will be on the end of something that will be the caterpillar. So it’s the first time that they’ve mixed three disciplines, I suppose — live action, animation, and stop motion. I think I’m part of the animation bit, and I saw Helena [Bonham-Carter] and Crispin Glover yesterday. They’re a mixture of the two, actually, because there’s Helena in a costume and in makeup but her head is going to be made three times bigger than it actually is on top of the costume.”
“I don’t know what it (the Caterpillar) looks like, so I’ve only done the first stage of it, which is them recording me saying these lines quite badly. Then, somewhere down the line, they’ll have animated it and I’ll redo it.”

Johnny Depp is again on the 1# spot of IMDb.com’s STARmeter
posted December 11, 2008 under awardsMr. Depp now claims the top spot on the IMDb's STARmeter for the fifth year in a row -- even though his biggest appearances of the year were on the red carpet of the Oscars (where he was nominated for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and at the MTV Movie Awards, where he snagged trophies for both Sweeney Todd and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. And fans couldn't stop talking about his upcoming roles in Michael Mann's Public Enemies (as John Dillinger) and Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (as the Mad Hatter), as well as salivating at the concept of him playing The Riddler in the next Batman flick. Check back with us next year to see if that comes to fruition -- we're sure he'll be somewhere at the top of this list again!

Jack Sparrow Fired From Disneyland? NOT
posted December 09, 2008 under generalIt’s a well known fact among all those that follow Johnny, Pirates or Disney that the character of Jack Sparrow will no longer be at the Disneyland park. HOWEVER, the news that Jack was “fired” from Disneyland because of flashing and inappropriate incidents (as stated in San Diego Tribune, ktla, TMZ.com and The Tribune) are categorically inaccurate. “The Boob statement was totally not true and never happened at all.“ states Brandon Pinto, whose quote to the SDTribune was misconstrued and now misquoted by these publications. Other individuals quoted in the Tribune article have not and do not work for the park in anyway. “All Disney employees are held to a very high standard and these false incidents were in no way shape or form the cause of Jacks disappearance from the park as far as I know.” Pinto expressed. Disney’s official statement that these rumors are false, also match with the truth that Jack was moved to another part of the park and his numbers went down. Of course Jack will return to the park in booming popularity in the coming years as POTC 4 opens!

Johnny Depp books 'Hand of Dante'
Actor's Infinitum Nihil acquires rights to novel
Johnny Depp's production company Infinitum Nihil has acquired screen rights to the Nick Tosches novel "In the Hand of Dante." The novel will be developed as a potential star vehicle for Depp.
Depp will produce with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski. The company, which has a first-look deal with Warner Bros. and Graham King's GK Films, optioned the book with its own coin.
Book revolves around Dante's masterwork "The Divine Comedy," and tells parallel storylines involving Dante in 14th-century Italy as he tries to complete the work, and a contemporary storyline involving Tosches, who is asked to authenticate what might be Dante's original manuscript. Depp would play Tosches. The novel was published in 2002.
Depp, who is playing the Mad Hatter in the Tim Burton-directed "Alice in Wonderland," has a dance card that includes toplining another "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, "The Lone Ranger," and voicing the title character in the Gore Verbinski-directed animated film "Rango."
At the same time, his production company has become more ambitious, and is getting close to the starting line on its first movie.
Depp will star in March as gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson in "The Rum Diary," an adaptation of the Thompson book that Infinitum Nihil is producing with GK Films, with King's company financing the picture. Bruce Robinson is directing his script. It's Depp's second turn in a Thompson tale; he starred in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."
Infinitum Nihil also is working with GK Films and WB on a film transfer of "Dark Shadows" that will have Depp playing Barnabas Collins; an adaptation of "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" that will be directed by Chris Wedge; an adaptation of the Gregory David Roberts book "Shantaram" that was scripted by Eric Roth; and "The Bomb in My Garden," the Mahdi Obeidi/Kurt Pitzer book that has a script by Robert Edwards. Infinitum Nihil also is developing an adaptation of "Inamorata" that was scripted by the book's author, Joseph Gangemi.
